LAB 38 is a progressive approach to medicinal, high powered superfoods, rich extracts, and raw protein powders. We strategically formulate recipes that optimize energy, power, endurance, digestive health & overall vitality. Our products are cold pressed and highly bioavailable. They are hand crafted in small batches using raw and real ingredients. No additives and no chemical extraction methods are used. We do not believe in assembly-line style production.
The idea of a plant-based diet may seem intimidating, but the simplicity of our products allowed us to overcome the perceptions and build LAB 38; a brand that knows what you put in your body not only leaves a mark on your life but the world we live in as well.
What brought Lab 38 to fruition?
The brand started for the purpose of unifying health, fitness, and beauty. Our brand is gender neutral to reach a wider range of people. We didn’t want to become another nutrition brand that only targets vegans or only focuses on women’s health, or pushes protein powders to athletes. We started a campaign, ‘Shades of Nutrition’; to promote that all types of people deserve the opportunity to be absolute.
We are a middle ground for athletes, 9 to 5 warriors and women from every side of the spectrum. Our products carry the potential to uncover that total balance for any lifestyle. We provide the highest grade quality ingredients with the most bioavailability of nutrients. Our blends are not complex at all. They are simple yet innovative. Unlike others, we do not just combine a bunch of superfood powders together to create some powerhouse blend that ultimately will taste chalky, gritty and thick. This would defeat our purpose. We make sure all the ingredients infuse well with each other for flavor along with correlating with each other to maximize their health benefits and potency. By taking the necessary step of learning about each ingredient and what it does in detail, a combination is created.

The end goal is to allow each one of our products to target a specific ailment in the body; digestive health, anti-aging and vitality, energy and metabolism and of course, our skin.
Who started Lab 38?
Coming from a Mediterranean and Eastern European background, we grew up in families accustomed to home cooking, whole foods and eating at the dinner table. Our mothers cooked using a lot of spices and made everything from scratch. The kitchen was a place of
culture, flavor, and technique. These principals come out in our products. Our recipes and formulas coming from two regular people hold more depth and quality than these companies who have nutritionists and dietitians backing them. We are logical yet passionate. This type of nutrition is simple. You don’t have to be a genius to know what to put into your body, you just have to listen to it.

Bojan Vitas comes from a construction engineering background. His minimalistic style reflects the aesthetic of our packaging. His simple yet modern approach displays the efficiency of the ingredients. And that efficiency derives from the origin of the ingredients.
Vitas has an impeccable vision when it comes to how nutrition should be approached; raw and simple. He built this company in hopes it becomes a platform for people to learn and question their own views on nutrition. He is very conscious of what he puts into his body. By living this type of lifestyle, he leads by example. He became his own teacher. He was never afraid to explore new products on the market, yet was disappointed to find that many brands claim they do things with results that didn’t match up to the hype.
Vitas decided to experiment with superfood powders and herb/root extracts that do the same exact things these brands claim they do but without all the chemicals. The difference here is, he was using ingredients in their natural form. Nature is a big part of his life. And it has now become engraved in Lab 38’s mission; We are a progressive approach to a mindful diet; raw and simple; mother nature’s preferred recipe.
Owner and founder, Tatiana Grigo, a writer with a psychology degree focuses on the whys and whats of Lab 38. Why do people crave this? What do people want? What emotion triggers this and what flavors trigger that? She uses the behaviors of people to approach nutrition in a day to day type of style. With each formula, she calculates what ingredients correlate with each other to target specific ailments in the body. She breaks down how these ingredients will interact with each other, how they will work in our bodies, how will they help our children and how easily they can be incorporated into our daily recipes.
Tatiana has always been creative and a go-getter when it came to her aspirations.
Graduating from St. John’s University with a psychology degree, she didn’t expect to get involved in a business based on nutrition. Her love for psychology and staying active in the gym tied the two together. Her degree helps us here at the Lab when it comes to the aspects of launching and ordering products, gathering consumer statistics, predicting sales, brand marketing and an overall perspective on human behavior and nutrition. Her ability to be efficient, read, write and edit to get both voices heard is what she prides herself on within our culture blog.
What do you think of the industry today?
It seems as if today people are more concerned with what they ingest that might affect their physical performance or appearance than in many other years. Carnivores are starting to cut certain types of meat out of their diet and more people are swaying towards a vegan/vegetarian way of dining. People are becoming curious and more experimental when it comes to those plant-based alternatives to incorporate into their daily routine. Superfood powders and herb extracts are seen as a healing cure from the inside out. They posses the power to help clear and rejuvenate skin, boost metabolism and refuel our bodies with energy and endurance. Steering off of the chemically infused products, many are starting to want the natural thing.
There are many people who lack the proper knowledge on what whole foods and supplements can do for them, let alone which to take. They are intimated or turned off by supplement companies and what comes along with them. Either they are ‘too vegan’ and ‘too holistic’ or ‘too athletic’ with ‘too many chemicals’. Where is the balance? Being able to recognize the poor choices made when it comes to food and nutrition, we can finally start being selfish and taking the steps towards putting our health first. Health, fitness, and beauty coinciding with plant-based nutrition aren’t where it should be and LAB 38 wants to catapult a new approach into the main stream market.

What makes Lab 38 different?
We bring value to an industry that is lacking a neutral brand that can change the perspective and elevate the knowledge people have about nutrition and all the vast choices that are out there. We wanted to create a product line of quality and luxury nutrition. We wanted unique options with a surplus of health benefits all while retaining a smooth flavor and taste. On top of all that, we wanted to make it affordable for people. With all the expensive nutrition brands out there, we didn’t want to be another overpriced company for superfood powders. Organic is a term we hear from many companies. It doesn’t impress us anymore. Everyone can get their hands on organic ingredients, mix them up and create a blend. But the question we have, do they taste good? Put organic to the side, and let’s bring creativity to the forefront.
What makes LAB 38 stand out amongst brands that create and use similar ingredients to us?
Number 1; Flavor. We made sure that you can taste certain flavors and make others minimal or invisible, making it easy to blend into teas, smoothies, baking, and coffee.
Number 2; Options. We love options. Being that our flavors are so versatile, we encourage our customers to think past the blender and use our products into their cooking and baking.
Number 3; Diversity. We do not solely focus on the typical pea and brown rice protein like many other companies. In fact, we advocate against using those blends through our trial and error. Our Sacha Inchi protein and Pumpkin protein differentiates us from many brands.
